A huge thanks you to the Brisbane Broncos who have once again sponsored this stall and have made a significant contribution to stock the stall with chips and nuggets.

GO THE BRONCOS IN 2010!

We will shortly be looking for donations of soft drinks, poppers and water for the Fair. Jim Hunter is our " Big Softie" this year and will soon put a call out for stock and reveal the drop off zone .

How would you like your very own, exclusive parking space, front and centre, right outside Bardon House - for the rest of the school year? Yes, it's the GOLDEN CAR SPACE and for $5 the chance to have your name on it could be yours. Seriously. Mrs Flynn and the teachers have very generously offered one of their spaces to the lucky winner of this raffle and we are very grateful - as will the lucky winner be! Tickets will go on sale mid-next week at school and will be available at the Fair. Stay tuned for more details and spread the word!

Don't Be A Meanie, Help Sell A Panini!

Okay, that headline was pretty ordinary but there's nothing tasteless about paninis. Filled with tasty, fresh Italian ingredients, they are a breeze to make and easy to sell. Donna McHugh and Lina Giacoboni are looking for helpers on the day - an hour or two would be great. The more, the merrier - and the shorter shifts for all. Contact either Lina on 0412 186 411 or
Donna on 0412 140 290 or email donna.mchugh@optusnet.com.au

Nice Buns!

Trish Davis and Sue Donovan are our Hot Cross Bunnies (are they cross? They always seem so friendly). All families will be able to order their buns at the fair for collection on Holy Thursday, as well as being able to enjoy one with a coffee on the day. Mmmmmmmmm. Watch this space for more info.

A Hole Lotta Love

Anne White (mum of Rory) is no nut - she knows what will make a heap of D'oh! But she needs helpers. It's easy and it's fun and the perks are excellent. On the job training provided and taste-testing responsibilities are assured. The more helpers, the shorter the shifts will be, and won't the kids love you? Contact Anne at anne34@tpg.com.au

Let's Get Those Bacon & Egg Rolls Rolling

Has anyone got any contacts with purveyors of either bacon or eggs or both? We are looking for mates rates here - not freebies. As the fair is early this year, straight after 8am Mass, we are thinking a soft roll stuffed with a freshly fried egg and crispy bacon with a Merlo coffee will have some appeal! Please contact Denise Christensen at mdchristensen@optusnet.com.au if you have any contacts. Mrs Lamb - any chance of ramping up production in the Joey's hen-house?

Calling all crafters!!

Creativity is urgently needed for this year's gift and craft stall at the Easter Fair! If you (or Nanna or Aunty Dot) have any hidden talents and can crochet a toilet doll or macrame a coffee cup - we need your talents!!
The gift stall is in desperate need for some home made things to sell at the Fair. A School Fair is just not right without some padded coat-hangers and some toilet dollies so please do your best to help us source these goodies.
If you are in no way crafty (like us!), parent power is also needed to sell on the stall at the Fair and/or supervise kiddy craft workshops. We will have some fun easter activities for kids to do on the day or to take home to do later.
If you can help with a donation of crafty goodies or a donation of your time at the stall, please give Anna or Kim a call or drop us an email.

Amanda Moss (Isobella and Graces' Mum ) will be dusting them off and pricing so if you can help her out please contact her on amossbrisbane@yahoo.com.au

Our own iceman

Michael McDonald (Lachlan & Jetts' Dad) has taken on the "ice challenge" and will be making sure the cold food is cold and the drinks are icy! With over 50 x 10kg bags to purchase he will be looking like this by the end of the day.

Once again if you can get us mates rates we would love to hear from you.
Thanks Michael

What A Treasure

Thanks to Qld Treasurer and local MP Andrew Fraser for his donation of $100 and the use of marquees. Andrew has been a longtime supporter of the fair and we appreciate his contribution enormously.

Ride Sponorship - Thank you to the Wakefield Family (Brianna Yr 3)

A big thanks to the Wakefield Family who have donated $$'s toward a ride sponsorship. Your support is always appreciated.

Families who don't have the time to bake and make and assist with the running of the fair often help out by sponsoring or part sponsoring a ride. The support this year has been overwhelming and we only have 2 rides left. Supa Swing Chair Ride ($965) or the ABC Fun Factory($945). Please contact Liz for further information.

Canvassing Works Of Art

Everyone at Joeys is invited to participate in an exciting new addition to the fair. The Easter Art Show is an opportunity for everyone feeling a little creative to produce a wonderful piece of ART of their own design AND display it.

There are no limitations to what you create..........be as adventurous as you wish to be........paint, draw, collage, scrapbooking techniques etc etc etc. It can be a family affair OR an individual project. Canvases will be sent home in week five and will need to be returned by Friday 12 March (please, if you don't wish to participate, return the canvas to the office).

The canvases will be displayed as part of the Coffee Shop area and will be available to buy at the Fair (you may reserve your own if you are worried yours might be snapped up by the Guggengheim). More info? Contact Sara Wenck at sjwenck@mac.com

Kids For The Kids

Lambs, chicks, piglets and ducklings too! The Baby Animal Farm is something new this year and perfectly timed for Easter (unsure at this point if bunnies are included, but watch this space). Children and adults will be able to get up close and personal with the gorgeous little animals - an experience that will be a highlight of the day. The Farm is being generously sponsored by The Cole Family (Ella, 1T).

What's It All For?

This is a very understandable question and one you may well find yourself asking when you are making your 9th batch of coconut ice.

St Joseph's is a beautiful and well resourced school - for that we can thank the generations of parents and friends who have gone before us. The playgrounds, library books, fridges, air conditioning ... the list goes on. This year will be a big year in terms of building and expansion. At the end of the year there will be three new classrooms to fit out and furnish. As anyone who has built or renovated knows, so often the 'extras' are not included in the building. Things like furniture, whiteboards, shelves, fridges are paid for by the P&F. Each room will cost about $20,000 to outfit. We are hopeful the money raised at the fair will contribute to these costs. If you want to know more about the P&F, what they do and how it all works, everyone is welome to attend the monthly meeting - every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm

What Goes Around ...

The Daveson Family is again sponsoring the Ferris Wheel. Their generousity is much appreciated - without their support the fair would never reach such heights.

Thanks Geraldine!

Local councillor Geraldine Knapp of The Gap ward office is a great friend to our school and a longtime supporter of our fair. This year she has offered us use of her marquees (big saving on rental) as well as a $100 donation. Geraldine is a familiar face on fair day so if you see her, say g'day.

Flying High With Brisbane Airport Corporation

Brisbane Airport Corporation have always been generous supporters of our fair and many other community events. This year is no different and we thank them for their silver sponsorship.

Found! A Sponsor In Property Searchers

Property Searchers are on board again as a gold sponsor. A residential and commercial buyers agent, Property Searchers offers a professional, personalised and confidential service which takes the (considerable) stress out of buying property. And they are terrific people. Visit their website at propertysearchers.com.au.

Can't Sing? Can You Sponsor Someone Who Can?

Gerrianne Rudd is a wonderful local singer who entertains children and adults with style and fun. Anyone who was at the Walker family's Walk In The Park fundraiser for their son George last year would have enjoyed her wonderful music. This year we'd like to have Gerianne perform at our fair she is available and has offered us the discounted rate of $200. Would anyone like to take this on as a sponsorship? It will bring so much atmosphere to the day - contact Liz if you can help - or sing.

Mad Hatters Rides Again

Thank you to Lynette and Alfred Chung who are generously sponsoring the Mad Hatters Tea Party Ride.

The Slippery Slope To Fun

Thank you to George Hopkins and Rachel Moore, parents of Kitty (Yr2) and Charlie (Prep) who are sponsoring the superslide again. This ride is always extremely popular - sometimes the kids even get a go.

Two Crafty!

Year Two parents Kim Tually (Mollie Matthews) and Anna Harley (Caitlin) have taken on the Easter gifts stall and their ideas are multiplying like rabbits. It will be a great stall, with an egg decorating competition, Easter craft workshops for the kids as well as a range of gifts to buy for family and friends.

Helpers for this stall (both to sell gifts and to supervise craft activities) are being keenly sought. If you can help for even a little while, please contact Kim at moochy@bigpond.net.au

The stall will be lots of fun and plenty of helpers will mean short shifts for everyone! Hop to it!

Wake Up And Smell The Merlo!

James Wilkinson and family are very generously getting right behind the Fair by supplying Merlo coffee machines, coffee, cups and even a professional barista to ensure everyone enjoys seriously goof coffee on the day. It's an early start this year (9am) so this is a wonderful sponsorship - coffee lovers throughout Bardon and beyond are very grateful.

Fairy Floss Queens

We now have 3 beautiful Fairy Floss Queens for 2010. Thanks to Lisa Quinn, Catherine Myers and Kerry Allesandra Floss Volunteers. These girls will be up to their elbows in pink stuff all day and the children will be delighted!

Now to source a good fairy floss machine - does anyone have any contacts or recommendations?

Thank You Arch!

Arch Bevis MP, Federal Member for Brisbane has always supported the Joeys Fair. This year he is kindly donating a gift basket as a prize on our chocolate wheel. His support is always appreciated.

Let Josh and Nat Take You For A Ride

The Hunts (Tom, Will and Sam's mum and dad) have put their hand up to organise the rides - this is such an important job as it's arguably what the kids look forward to the most. Not meaning to generalize, of course. Thanks Josh and Nat, we salute you every time we are stuck in the Cecil Rd traffic.

Please note: pic indicative only.

Bring Out Your Books!

Finished reading the books Santa brought you? Box them up for the second hand book stall. Quality fiction, non fiction, childrens books and magazines are keenly sought. Maria Tobin and Amanda Moss are running the stall. Contact Maria on liamandmaria@bigpond.com if you want to see if she'll take your old copy of The Thorn Birds ....

Lob A Choc Is Back

Toss a coin, win some Cadbury's. Good simple Fair fun. Thanks Cathy Roach for taking this on.

Hot Cross Bunny?

The time of year makes the sale of hot cross buns a a sure bet. We're thinking that we could run a 'hot cross bun' drive, of sorts where families can order ahead, collect on the day or buy and munch at the fair! If you have any experience with this kind of thing - or have contacts with a friendly baker, please contact Liz. The subject of HCBs is a divisive one - what do you think of the chocolate variety? Or are you a fruit'n'peel purist ... post your comment here - you can do it anonymously!

Fairies For The Floss?

A couple of volunteers are needed to man (fairy?) the Fairy Floss stall. Wings and wand optional. Contact Liz.

Boiiiing Boiiing

Thanks to the McCarthy family - Kristin Devitt, Keiran, Louisa Year 2 and Emmeline Year 1 for their sponsorship the bunny suit. Let's hope for a fine (coolish) day!

Be the Bunny Volunteer - Handing out Easter Eggs!

Phillipa Ross has investigated "Bunnies" for us! Thanks Phillipa - We can hire this costume for $80 with $40 deposit - and have our own Easter Bunny handing out eggs just after the Easter Bonnet Parade.
Any thoughts on who we could get to be the BUNNY!
If any Business or Family would like to sponsor - would love to hear from you!

A Big Softie

This year's fete is my first foray into stall management, and I am hoping that the soft drink stall will be a big success. I have already started recruiting helpers for shifts throughout the day, and will be advertising for donated soft drinks, juices and bottled water very soon.

Fair Planning Meeting

Every Friday afternoon until the Fair 2.15pm – 3.00pm outside St Joey's Library. Everyone welcome to pass by anytime to assist with new suggestions, ideas and planning. We may even have a job for you! Informal.

Pizzas Make Way For Paninis

Pizza queens Lina Giacoboni and Donna McHugh reckon paninis may be a better bet than pizzas this year. The warmer weather and shorter hours mean it's hard to justify the time and money ovens involve so are suggesting paninis loaded with fresh Italian ingredients. They were a big hit at last year's Italian Piazza Day. Any ideas for a name for the stall?

Fair Go! We're online

Lets see how this goes! Liz thought a blog might be a fun way to keep everybody up to speed with what's happening at the Fair. As the weeks fly by, printed notices won't keep up with the pace everyone is moving at, but this blog might! We can use the school email list to let people know when they might want to log on, but we'll keep this to a minimum as no one likes an overflowing inbox. All convenors will have permission to post whatever they like - it's easy enough to do, but if you have any problems, just ask me - my email is katehunter@me.com
